HDP Co-Chair Tuncel: Our people has done its bit, it’s our turn


In order to raise awareness for the massacre at Lice and support its people, HDP Co-Chairs Sebahat Tuncel and Ertuğrul Kürkçü moved the weekly Parliamentary Group meeting to Diyarbakır. Accompanied by a large delegation, they addressed the citizens on top of a hill close to the Duru Gendarmerie Station, where two citizens were massacred. The group meeting was held with HDP deputies, HDP Vice Co-Chairs, members of the HDP Central Executive Committee and MPs, representatives of the HDK-HDP constituent organizations, administrators at province and district levels, Co-Chairs of district municipalities, members of the Peace Mothers Assembly, and numerous citizens, including the young continuing their struggle against outpost (kalekol) constructions and military operations for the past 18 days.

We Condemn the Raining Bullets on Civilians in Lice

wpid-webicin26.pngTwo people were declared dead and many injured yesterday during the attacks of the military personnel against protestors who are protesting the construction of military outposts in Lice, Diyarbakir. We offer our condolences to the grieving families of Ramazan Baran and Baki Akdemir and to the Kurdish people. May their souls rest in peace.

This recent attack on civilians showcases that the AKP government sees the peace process as a chance to fortify the old and build new military outposts and construct new damps to be used for militaristic purposes. The government has once again shown that AKP cannot be trusted with a democratic solution and the establishment of peace and equality in Turkey. The government insists on overlooking the rightful, peaceful, determined and ongoing protests of the civilians against the constructing of military outposts. AKP imposes military conflict and submission upon the Kurdish people. Continue reading
